As a representative tertiary general hospital of Korea, Gachon University Gil Medical Center (GUGMC) has been practicing medicine under mission of philanthropy, public service, and patriotism since 1958. GUGMC is ranked as the fifth largest hospital in Korea with 1,400 beds, and designated by the government as a research-centered hospital. Gachon Neuroscience Research Institute and Cancer & Diabetes Research Institute are carrying out various research activities to conquer neurological diseases and cancer and diabetes. GUGMC is not only known for the first Regional Emergency Center and Trauma Center, but also for the first nationally-designated Cancer Center among private university hospitals. Cancer Center is equipped with the most advanced facility and multidisciplinary consultation system for cancer patients. In 2016, we introduced artificial intelligence from IBM, called "Watson for Oncology" to increase quality of cancer treatment to a higher level. In 2017, GUGMC was accredited by Korean government as excellent Hospital Serving Foreign Patients. In order to meet medical needs of increasing foreign patients, GUGMC will continue to provide patient-centered services.
